Get to Know Jasper...... Jasper is 50ish years old......and has two kids......a daughter who graduated from James Madison University in 2007 and a son who is currently attending college......... He has a dog.....Buddy, who is 13 years old...... Moved to Richmond in the summer of 1995..... ......and thinks this is as close to heaven as you can get without actually dying!! ........and he loves to do marathons.......to date he has done 13 marathons....... .......and (drum roll please...) He has completed the Wisconsin Ironman in September of 2007!! In case you are wondering, an iron man consists of a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride and then a full marathon (26.2miles of running)!! I did mine in Madison, Wisconsin on September 9th, 2007. Here is the start of the race......all 2200 of us in the water swimming our hearts out.......
And then we got out of the water:
and even though we were tired, we got on our bikes and rode for 112 miles....and it was a hot day! By the time I finished that ride I was more than ready to get off that bike!
And once we were done with the bike ride.....we ran for 26.2 miles
but then the finish line was in sight......
and the prize was in hand...
They say compete in an Ironman once, brag for life.......and I intend to take full advantage of that!! here is a one minute video of my Ironman experience ( I get goose bumps every time I watch it!)
