Asbestos is a serious health concern.

It has been proven to cause cancer.

Asbestos fibers can linger in the air for days, allowing you to inhale them.

That is why it is very important that you not disturb asbestos.

Asbestos can be in literally hundreds of components in a home.

Generally it is most hazardous when it is used as insulation in walls or around boilers and pipes. These types of insulation can easily be damaged and become airborne.

If you inhale asbestos fibers you may not get cancer immediately because it generally takes years to develop.

Rule of thumb….don’t disturb asbestos and if you do then leave the area immediately….

You can not identify asbestos by looking at it.

You need to take a sample and view it under a microscope. This should be done by a licensed trained individual who knows how to properly handle asbestos.
